The work consists of an abstract assemblage of 325 equilateral triangles made of aluminum. The triangles are connected in a random way to create a rhythmic three-dimensional structure playing on visual contrasts. The work is attached to the ceiling of the chalet’s community hall to give the illusion that it floats, thus appealing to childhood imagination by evoking the form of a flying carpet, origami, or a kite. The work is visible from outside through the building’s windows.

The equilateral aluminum triangles, painted primary and secondary colours, are arranged in different angles and mechanically assembled. The artist develops the potential for flat tints used in three-dimensional construction, hence the referral to origami. This playful sculptural installation energizes its surroundings.

The work was produced in the context of construction of the Parc De Gaspé chalet and is part of the government of Québec’s Politique d’intégration des arts et à l’architecture et à l’environnement des bâtiments et des sites gouvernementaux et publics. Josée Dubeau has produced a number of works under this policy, including one at the hospital in Gatineau in 2012.
