Lyse Charland Favretti
Envol d'oiseaux
1983
Presentation of the artwork
The artwork is composed of a grouping of six glass pieces integrated with six skylights in Bibliothèque Le Prévost. Rectangular in shape, the glass pieces are arranged in three groups of two. They are made of antique glass and glass slabs; they also integrate empty spaces and are supported by wooden frames and nylon wire. The glass pieces are abstract in appearance, but, as the artist says, “The theme chosen is that of stylized representation of a flight of birds, leaving space for a child’s imagination.” The composition has an effect of lightness and luminosity that offers an invitation to dreams and contemplation.
Associated events
The work was created on the occasion of Bibliothèque Le Prévost, under the Québec government’s Politique d’intégration des arts à l’architecture et à l’environnement des bâtiments et des sites gouvernementaux et publics.
