Roberto Pellegrinuzzi

Espace vert

2006
Presentation of the artwork
Two photographs, displayed on the two sides of a light box, present a nature scene. One, shot with a macro lens, shows details of young plant shoots, whereas the other offers a blurred background of mature trees. The lighting system, programmed to fluctuate in intensity and hue by the hour and by the season, establishes a rhythm and a sense of movement, like a zoom effect, between background and foreground.

Situated on the left side of Parc Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau, at the entrance to the Centre communautaire intergénérationnel d’Outremont, Espace vert is found at the intersection of the space’s functions of urban park and site of encounter between generations. It thus becomes a metaphor for nature, plant and human, its cycles, and the passage of time.
Associated events
The artwork was installed in Parc Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau when the site was redeveloped and the Centre communautaire intergénérationnel d’Outremont was built there.
