Presentation of the artwork
The artwork is situated in front of the Centre Leonardo da Vinci, on Boulevard Lacordaire. The sculpture is composed of an oversized trowel whose triangular blade sits on the ground. On the trowel’s red handle is a human figure made of stainless steel, poised to dive.
Associated events
The artwork underlines the contribution of the Italian community to the development of Montréal.
Laura Santini
With a BA in art history from McGill University and a master’s degree in sculpture from New York University, Laura Santini divides her time and her in-studio practice between Italy and Canada. Her works have been in numerous solo and group exhibitions presented in North America and Europe. Among her works of public art is Veritas (2010), installed on the grounds of Selwyn House School in Montréal.
